Wellness means something different to everyone. As handy as it would be if we could have a cookie-cutter routine that would make us all feel amazing, it’s just not that simple. Like self-care, one person’s version of “wellness” will probably look absolutely nothing like another’s.
Even the definition of the word itself proves how varied its meaning can be: “Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life.” (UC Davis) Naturally, what a fulfilled life looks like depends on your goals, upbringing and personality. And so does the journey to getting there!
Much like wellness means something different to everyone, your version of wellness may also be hugely dependant on seasonal changes. As the weather shifts, so will your needs. That’s totally and completely normal! Winter could be all about cosy days spent under blankets for the sake of your mental health, whilst summer may be the time you try to get outside and move your body more.
To craft wellness practices that truly work for you, it’s crucial to tune into the activities that fuel your mind, body and soul at any given time. This will help you to learn what you need to do more of, as well as what you may want to cut out of your day! As a step towards helping you to adjust your wellness routine for the warmer weather, here is some inspiration for practices you may want to try out.
Stay hydrated in style
You probably saw this one coming, so let’s get it out of the way nice and early! Staying hydrated is always important, but especially in summer. This is simply because we’re likely to sweat more – and perhaps be doing more rigorous activities – in the warmer months.
Of course, the simplest solution is to keep a reusable bottle of water with you all day long, to encourage you to keep on sipping. We know that sometimes you need a little more of a push, though. As a way to add a touch of luxury to your hydration sessions, why not try slicing fruit and putting it in your bottle, juicing or enjoying coconut water?
Switch your bath for a shower
Whilst we all love a relaxing bubble bath, there’s no denying that it’s often the last thing you want after a long, hot day outside!
For the ultimate wellness treat, a cool shower with a touch of mindfulness is perfect for summer. Not only will the water help to soothe warm skin, but being away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, even if just for 5 minutes, can be extremely beneficial.
To make your shower routine more powerful, try to truly focus on the sensations you experience throughout it: The fragrance of your products, the feel of your exfoliator, the sight of water droplets as they drag down the tiles. Engaging all of the senses where possible is the perfect way to re-set.

Make the most of the sunrise or sunset
Whilst it’s true that you can enjoy the sunrise or sunset at any time of year, colder temperatures definitely make us less willing to jump out of bed or stay out late! That’s why we like to embrace them more in summer. Watching the natural flow from day to night, or vice versa, truly does have a way of bringing you into the present moment like nothing else. It can also be a powerful way to add perspective into your life.

Honour that summer holiday mindset
It’s difficult not to get into the summer holiday mindset in August, no matter how old you are! We all associate warmer weather with time off, spent recuperating and making the most of the sunshine. So, embrace it.
As a part of your wellness regime this summer, schedule in time off. Whether that means actually booking time away from work, or simply carving a few hours out at the weekend to relax, it’s important to give yourself me-time. And remember, time spent on self-care is often the most productive.
Harness the power of aromachology
Our luxury scent of the month for August is our Renew Signature fragrance. Its vibrant yet luxurious feel has been expertly crafted to help you gain clarity and a fresh perspective on life, based on aromachology. Whilst it’s the perfect way to reset, no matter what the weather, its revitalising mix of bergamot, rosemary, ginger and lavender is particularly brilliant for the warmer weather.
Indulge in its benefits in candle form of an evening, or in a luxury room mist or diffuser. It will fill your home with its summery scent, to compliment any wellness rituals.
As we said, wellness looks different to everyone. We’d love to hear what your favourite rituals are in the warmer months, whether they are focused on physical or mental fulfilment! Drop us a comment below and let’s get the conversation going.
